Columbia Falls
Gateway to Glacier
Safety and Mobility Improvement Project

Welcome
Known as the “Gateway to Glacier National Park," Columbia Falls is approximately 20 miles from the park’s entrance and is home to around 5,600 residents.
The Gateway to Glacier Safety and Mobility Improvement project will utilize the $10 million RAISE grant funds awarded to the City of Columbia Falls in 2022.

What is the Columbia Falls Gateway to Glacier Safety and Mobility Plan project?
The project consists of reconstructing 1.3 miles of roadway, installing 1.7 miles of sidewalks, and adding 1 mile of multi-use pathways in the City of Columbia Falls. Multiple intersections will be improved, as well as parking improvements and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility in the downtown area. The project also includes installing a new water main under the roadway to improve efficiency and reduce water loss.
What is a RAISE grant?
The Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant program is part of a national initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation to enhance infrastructure, specifically for projects that have a significant local or regional impact in growing communities like Columbia Falls. The RAISE grant program focuses on improving safety, sustainability, equity, and the economic competitiveness of transportation systems.
